Submission to the Canadian Securities Administrators on Disclosure of Climate-related Matters

Clean Energy Canada made a submission to the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) as part of the consultation on proposed National Instrument 51-107 Disclosure of Climate-related Matters. We believe the proposal is a positive and long-overdue step that will improve transparency of Canadian companies’ risks and impacts related to climate change, and bring more consistency to the disclosures used by investors, regulators, and others. This is a fast-developing field, and the CSA and provincial securities regulators will need to act quickly to implement the proposed requirements. The submission includes a number of recommendations that we feel are necessary to align the proposed requirements with global best practices and investor expectations.
