Canada Green Building Council CEO Thomas Mueller explains how the standard is transforming cities and communities, and what makes us so special, anyway?

We stopped by the sneak-preview VIP event for Vancouver’s new Tesla Motors store—Canada’s second. The company invited a couple dozen current vehicle owners to come by and check out the shop. Those we spoke with expressed no “buyer’s remorse” whatsoever.

Electric vehicles have emerged from the garages of gearheads and landed in the nation’s auto malls. Commercial and private fleets are particularly well positioned to take advantage of the switch, and in British Columbia the government has signed on to the Pacific Coast Action plan with the aim of 10 percent of all fleet vehicles being electric by 2016.

The industry association hosted the province’s power-generation community for a project show-and-tell and networking event this week in Vancouver. Here, a few faces from a $4 billion industry that directly employs 2,800 British Columbians.
