Medium and heavy duty vehicles (MHDVs) are responsible for over 9% of Canada’s national emissions, but sales of zero-emission MHDVs remain limited—despite the technology being available.
One of the most important policy tools to get more zero-emissions and buses sold and on the road is an effective incentive program, which helps Canadians overcome one of the primary barriers to MHDVs: high upfront costs.
Clean Energy Canada submitted comments and feedback as part of Transport Canada’s consultations on its “Incentives for Medium- and Heavy- Duty Zero Emission Vehicles Program” (iMHZEV) to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission trucks and buses in Canada.
