Zero-Emission Medium and Heavy Duty Vehicles case studies

Insights and lessons from leading Canadian fleets

Executive Summary

Canada as a country may be lagging behind other jurisdictions when it comes to adoption of clean trucks and buses (or Zero-Emission Medium and Heavy Duty Vehicles (“ZEMHDV”), but that doesn’t mean individual public and private fleets aren’t taking some important steps.

We worked with six Canadian fleets already making great progress on their ZEMHDV transitions  to find out what insights and lessons they could share with others. These case studies explore questions such as:

  • How did companies choose technology, both for vehicles and charging or refueling?
  • What were the challenges they faced and successes they had along the way?
  • What policies and programs supported their transitions?
  • What advice would they offer other fleets looking to transition?

By providing on-the-ground advice and findings from real fleets who are making the transition, we hope to help fill information gaps and inspire others to follow their leadership in adopting clean trucks and buses.
